Guns for sale

Mauser 98 Caliber .308 | £800

I bought this Mauser for myself, the stock was pretty bland to say the least, so after choosing a blank from my library I started work. I wanted a traditional shape, nice and slim, with some old English features. I’ve owned it for 4 years but never use it as I’m more of a shotgun man.

The schnabel tip is rams horn, floating barrel tear drops, checkering is 26 lines per inch, cast slightly left handed, 15 1/4 pull, linseed finish, with set triggers, and the barrels threaded. Made by Zavasta on contract for Mauser. If you’d like more details please get in touch!

The gun has spent some time in America as the safety is etched Timneys, they are a US company that are well known for slicking actions and famous for triggers.

Lang, Joseph 20 gauge | £1,400

Side by Side Shotgun (R/H) – S/H

Joseph Lang & Son, lovely little 20 bore in good condition. Action is tight and functions well. The engraving is very sharp and shows no sign of wear. Showing signs of original colour case hardening. Barrels are in good condition, and when tapped ring like a bell. Although there are some light pits in the right tube, externally no dents, with original blueing as the address engraving is still sharp.

The stock has been extended to 14¾, then stripped, re-checkered, and linseed finish. I did this because I’m fussy and there were a few marks.

Comes in its virtually new Brady case and original trade label (not a copy).
I can forward more photos and barrel measurements if you are interested.

Ford, William 20 gauge | £575

Side by Side Shotgun (R/H) – S/H

Nice little English 20 bore. Wood and checkering is perfect, no dents or scratches and checkering is sharp. Fitted with silvers recoil pad. Action is in very good working order, showing small places of colour case hardening. Is tight on its face, opens and shuts nicely.

Internally the Barrels have one small area of shallow pitting towards the muzzle. Externally there are some shallow pits I’ve tried to show on the photos. And have new blueing. This gun has been serviced, and is proofed ¼ ½ so will take steel shot.

AYA 12 gauge #25 | £1,200

Side by Side Shotgun (R/H) – S/H

AYA 25 in mint condition. Brave to say mint but I doubt this gun has shot a slab of cartridges. The wood is perfect, the action is perfect, the engraving perfect, colour case hardening perfect, and unusually for AYA has a nice piece of wood.

Bores are shiny and measuring at factory marks. To be really fussy the blueing is dull, but definitely not worn. At ½ ¼ chokes can be used with steel shot.

Monk, Henry 12 gauge | £1,450

Side by Side Shotgun (L/H) – S/H

Henry Monk of Chester side lock in lovely condition. Perfect wood and checkering, has had a well matched wood extension. Action is tight, and functions well, with best English engraving and floral carved fences. Barrels are in good condition clean inside and out.

Blueing is good with no steel showing through, but if you were really fussy you may find you’d like them blued, this I can have done if required. Also when it came to me it had lost its forend escutcheon so I’ve had one made but is not engraved.

Can be shot with steel cartridges with these chokes.

AYA 12 gauge XXV | £575

Side by Side Shotgun (R/H) – S/H

Nice clean AYA 25 in good working order, tight action with sharp engraving. Still showing colour case hardening. The wood is perfect, no scratches or dents, with mint checkering.

The barrels have just come back from being re-blued by Bromley’s of Kent. There are however some very minor pits internally. With these chokes at ½ and cylinder you can shoot steel.

It’s had a full service, and is ready to go. I’ve had the barrel measurements checked and will pass them on to any enquiry.

SOLD | Evans, William 12 Gauge Side Lock Ejector | £4,000

~ THIS GUN HAS NOW BEEN SOLD ~

Side by Side Shotgun (L/H) – S/H

Lovely original gun in well looked-after condition. Stunning piece of wood with sharp checkering, cast slightly left. Crisp engraving on the action, which has been serviced. Probably the original blueing on the barrels, which are tight on the action. The rib is engraved William Evans from purdey and address. Feels and handles like a 20 bore gun. Comes in its leather case, which is also good condition with key and trade label.

I have the history from William Evans work book, stating that the gun was made in 1898 for a Charles Leolin Forrestier-Walker, knighted by Queen Victoria and a member of parliament for 30 yrs.
